The Connecting our Energy Capital Campaign will fund the following significant projects to create a solid foundation for the future and a more hospitable environment.
HVAC System
Our current heating, ventilating and air conditioning system (HVAC) is at the end of its life expectancy. We have been relying on an increased need for costly repairs and unplanned service calls as the boiler system and hot water piping continue to deteriorate. The aging boiler system and hot water piping pose a flooding threat to the main electrical switchboard, natural gas supply piping and telecommunications equipment which are housed in adjacent spaces. The HVAC system controls no longer function and need replacement also.

We anticipate full replacement during the first year of the campaign
Masonry Repairs
Significant masonry erosion is taking place in our bell tower and on steps and sidewalks. Tuck pointing is needed at these locations and in walls around the church. Water drainage issues need to be addressed. In addition, eroding flagstones need replacement.
Initial Requests for proposal have been created and are planned to be floated in late 2020 with work starting the second year of the campaign.
Flat Roof Replacement
The church’s flat roof has four active leak areas, and while many repairs have been made over the last few years, the leaks over the choir room and offices keep returning. A thermal imaging scan was used to assess the roof’s condition and the extent of the moisture leaking. The surveyors recommended a roof replacement. The new roof will have a 30 year guarantee and an approved tapered insulation system to eliminate standing water.
Replacement is slated to begin the third year of the campaign
Additional Projects
In addition to the three priority building issues, projects are planned to add to building accessibility and to provide a hospitable environment
New Sound System in church will work with hearing aids. Our aging sound system has significantly fewer working microphones and no flexibility. Also, we are experiencing intermittent feedback. A new system will provide clearer sound and send signals directly to hearing aids. It will also allow for high quality recording and streaming online. This ability will help those who cannot make it to church stay involved and give us a presence in the world outside our walls.
New ADA compliant doors at the Martin Street entrance will give easier access with an improved user identification system
Lighting upgrade in the sanctuary to include new control panel
Centennial Hall is showing its age. Painting and replacing water damaged wall paper as well as an update to the women’s restroom will make these spaces far more hospitable for church and outside group events.
